True dual exhaust '04 Hemi?
So I'm the proud owner of a new 2004 Ram 1500 w/ the 5.9L HEMI engine. I am REALLY happy with the truck so far - just got it over the weekend.
I've been reading all the exhaust posts, and I'm wondering... can you do a true dual on the '04 HEMI? There are two cats, and it looks like the pipes don't Y together until right before the muffler. Can I get two Flowmaster/Dynomax/Magnaflow mufflers, cut out the Y, and have a shop do duals all the way to the back??

The only way I would do true duels is if you get headers in addition to. Putting duels on will just rob your low end. The only real issue on the exhaust now is the Y pipe. A few I have seen are pinched and might restrict flow a bit. The exhaust manifolds are small and the backpressure from the rest of the system make good power now. Eric
Good point on the backpressure... I guess to start I'll just do a single drop-in replacement muffler, have a shop weld it in.
Any recommendations on a muffler that will add just a little more volume while keeping pressure? I *don't* want a super-loud 40-style sound.
