Default Towing with a 1500

I just purchased a new travel trailer (not a 5th wheel) and I am having a little trouble getting the equalizer hitch set up. The trailer's gvw is well within my trucks tow rating of 8600 lbs. coming in at 5700 lbs dry and about 7400 loaded. The problem I'm having is the rear of the truck rides too low and bottoms out. Any suggestions?

Firestone air bags. My buddy did that to his Z-71. Works great. He just airs up the bags to level the truck back out and he is good to go.

Too much hitch weight????
Transfer more of the load to the rear of the trailer????

Actually, the tongue weight is right where it is supposed to be. Transferring weight to the rear would upset the balance of the trailer resulting in control issues. What I was trying to get at was finding out if someone knew a little about these equalizer hitches and how to set them up.
