98 Ram 1500 dies intermittenly
My 98 Dodge Ram 1500 (with 125,000 miles) dies when you de-celerate (like slowing to turn or after going in reverse and stop to change gears) but immediately starts right back up, EVERY TIME. It will do this 3 or 4 times one day, or two days and then not repeat the problem for weeks maybe even longer at times. It doesn't seem to make any difference if it is cold or hot or if the engine is warmed up or not. This has been an intermittent problem for more than a year. Took it to have it checked by local mechanic (on a day that it wasn't acting up). He put it on his machine and said he couldn't find a problem but he sprayed the throttle body down. I had it tuned up a couple thousand miles ago with plugs, wires, etc. We used E-10 fuel for several months to see if that would help but doesn't seem to make much difference if we use that or Regular fuel. Where do we start looking? Don't know if it is smart to ignore it.
I have been reading this forum and it seems you guys are really knowledgeable about these trucks! Maybe someone can make some suggestions?

welcome to DF...
your throttle body needs to be cleaned... yank it off and pull the IAC valve off the back of the motor and give the valve seat & valve a good cleaning. there is a small air passage that could also be clogged. this is a common problem with the magnum motors. easy fix. if the cleaning doesnt fix it, then replace the IAC.
also I encourage you to look down into the intake and see if you can see oil pooling on the bottom of the intake. also a common problem with an easy fix. requires you to yank the intake off and swap the plenum gasket (felpro gasket is prefered)
