CHRYSLER HORROR STORIES...or not?
Thought that it would be nice to start a thread concerning Chrysler and there service, customer service, sales, and what not. Good or bad. Curiosity is getting better of me, and the more that I read, the more evident it becomes that there is common problems, and a true inability to trust your local dealer for repairs.
With that said I'd like to take the opportunity to give you a bit of background, and a couple of stories that have happened recently.
First of all I've been in the automotive industry all my life, I have obtained a reasonable education in this industry, and like industries. I currently own a business that caters and just may help in development to the automotive (Truck) industry.
So I bought a new 2000 QC truck (bells and whistles). The truck currently has 52,000mi. I purchased it as a work truck (new), just went a bit overboard, and now she is a family/work truck. No hard miles whatsoever. Extremely good shape. Truck has only been to warranty for a "squeak" in the shifter (bushings on frame rail) no biggie. So I was putting new rubber on it, and noticed that the left (driver) side upper ball joint was bad ( I feel this is premature) but the truck is a bit lifted, (2-wheel drive) and I figured that warranty would not cover it due to the lift. I'm not happy about the design, but I don't have time to make an arm, (long story shot..to late) and I start pricing and locating a complete arm. I find it at the local dealership! Great! $245.99, a bit spendy. So I just thought that I would try for warranty, and they say no problem! Great!!! Made the appointment for a Monday morning (6:00AM) and was the first one there. Dropped her off, I get a call at 9:00AM and said the parts are on back order, and it will be a couple of days. Humm... So I start a calling.. (BTW I need the truck on Tuesday to bring in a car from Arizona) so I'm about half pissed, and I receive a suggestion, call back to the local parts department.... I do and guess what? They still have it! So I play a bit, ask them to hold the part for about 10min, until I get there. I arrive, part is on the counter neat and pretty, I'm getting good and upset now, ask parts to give me a moment "I'll be right back" as I walk 10' over to service! I calmly ask what is the problem? It is explained that parts are NOT available, now "icky" Bulldog comes, I simply explain that how strange it is that the part IS sitting in the parts department!! Now all hell is breaking loose, on the phone, yelling and so on... simple, I take her (yes a female service writer) not a bad thing, over to parts, she is lying through here teeth!! the only person that refused to lie was the "kid" in parts 18 years old I'm guessing, and just would not back down. She said it was for another shop in my area, well that wasn't a good call as we know each other, I get him on the horn right then and there! BIG mistake, as he had ordered nothing and it was not on hold for him!! They deliver, why didn't;'t they? At the same time the service writer is just loosing it, very humorous! I explained "if this is for "XXX' perhaps I can talk them out of it! Well it was never meant for them, lie, after lie, after lie! In addition to make the situation worse, I had TWO local managers of other auto trades with me. Okay, not with me but at my shop, that thought this was unbelievable! One was "retired" Toyota parts manager, and the other is a manager of a very large parts house that caters to the the true automotive industry. I can't say much more due to litigation, but not just your local "pep boys"
Needless to say it was finished almost immediately, again cover-ups and plain and simple BS. This as a normal patron is what I received??, this is plain and simple bull****, if I went down in uniform, things may had been different. Also I have an account there, not much at all as I've through the years have only spent a couple thousand, but they didn't know that. Funny how this works, there is so much more to this, but I actually tried to make it somewhat concise.
Boils down to: warranty pays a bunch less.... Lie cheat and steal...
WHy purchase a warranty? They wont honor?... Humm, well it just cost them a new purchase, about 20 days ago.
When I mentioned litigation, this is there own process, I'm not suing. I will go through the entire process as I want heads to roll! To have the ability to lie, cheat and steal, is just upsetting! I'm here for the long haul, these are not people we want.
I certainly will purchase another MOPAR product, just give a bit of time. Weed out the ****!
SO lets here it! BAD or good!
BTW they are 5 star...... VICTORVILLE MOTORS!!!!!

when sutin goes wrong w/ the truck it is always brought to the same place the guys is an awesome mechanic if sutin doesnt need to be replaced he doesnt replace it
he did a tuneup on the truck and he didnt replaced the wires cause they were still good now to me thats a good mechanic
and he does good quality work
brought the truck in for a new muffler and cat while it was in there the O2 sensor behind the cat went and the water pump went total bille came to about 1200 dolars so what did he do he cleaned the truck and the engone free of charge
he even made a house call once after he got out of work
this was when we had the 89 cougar (ford[:'(]) the vehicle wudnt start or would jus die after it rained out turns out some wires in the truck kept getting wet
well if ur ever in the area and need service stop in its a little pricy but good quality work (just dont get n e thing painted there that guy sucks)

I bought a new Durango in 2001, sales guy couldn't have been better. Any warranty work was done right on time with no arguments. So when it was time to change i bought the new Ram at the same dealer, from the same sales guy. This time was not so good, the sales guy wanted to sell me a truck he had in stock, not the one i wanted. i told him the options i wanted and he told me he would get it. (for instance he told me the truck had the protection package on it but it didn't) but when i asked him about it he told me that i hadn't paid for it anyway so not to worry. They got the truck from another local dealer and he told me that HE would go get it and inspect it. I paid a crapload of money for a Pre-Delivery inspection, but when i picked up the truck it had a very big noticeable scratch on the passenger door, and another under the hood. No kidding but Ray Charles could have spotted them. Also the passenger side window had a huge scratch on it. When i pointed this out i was told to bring it in the next weekend for repainting. and again on the monday for the service manager to look at the glass so they could replace it. I go back on weekend, and have to wait for 4 hours while it gets painted, and again on the the monday, and get approval to get the window changed, "it should take 2 day's to get it in stock, and 3 hours to fit" he says, 2 weeks later i get a pimply faced kid calling me to say they had forgotton to order it and he wanted to confirm it was the drivers side rear???? (it was the passenger side front). It came in next day and then i had to go back to get it fitted, this time i get a loaner after getting the sales manager to intervine cuz pimply faced said i would have to order a loaner which would be another 2 day delay. When pimple face saw that he was about to die a horrible death, he went back to his hole in the ground while i spoke to the sales manager
So on a new truck that i spent $47000 i have already been to the dealers:-
1) to pick it up 2) to get it painted 3) to get the service guy to have a look 4) Get the window changed.
Kinda worries me to see what else i have to put up with
