4x2 or 4x4 question
I have the pleasure of driving a 94 Ram 4x2 and 99 Rsm4x4, although the 4x4 is better, I have never gotten stuck in my 4x2, and I live in Michigan... if you're really concerned, put some weight in the bed like sand bags over the tires, in the 4x2,and you should be fine... I personally have never done that and been totally fine... I love my 94, she's my life!! So, I wouldn't lie to ya...
Where are you going to be driving this Ram? Somewhere with tons of snow, or just moderate?
Welcome by the way! <IMG style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick="AddSmileyIcon'smileys/smiley2.gif'" alt=Wink src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

im not driving it in too extreme conditions, just so it can handle the NJ winters. we really dont have more than a foot of snow at a time really. </P>
i may put a plow on it, but im also considering a lift kit and some big tires. how would it be in the snow with the big tires and everything?</P>
I agree... if your plowing, get the 4x4, but if you decide it's just for you, the 4x2 will by fabulous, I've never had an issue... and weget lots of snow... sometime a foot or more. So... I suppose it depends on what you do with it..
I'm comfortable swinging mybed around, at times, never when I could hurt her... I think the 4x2 handles great in the snow... lots of fun.
LOL!

nuthin more fun then a big ol dodge drifting round a turn scaring people in there little cars!! LOL 4x4 is nice, but i only use it when in deep soft terrain when deflated tires and a little extra weight in the back doesnt work. oh yeah, lockers make all the diff also! </P>
i'm from toms river, nj myself. how bout you?</P><edited><editID>dasgift</editID><editDate>37973.7106018519</editDate></edited>
My moms b/f has a blue 94 ram 1500 with 4x2 and it does great in the snow
Yeah, if your gonna put a plow on it though, get a 4x4...

thebomb,i had the same question a while back, and after two noreasters that hit the east coast, i can tell you that a 4x2 is alright if the terrain isnt too bad. i have a good set of tires nd pull out of my drive w/o shoveling and its on a pretty good grade. good luck hunting for your dodge& nbsp; dunae
something to consider, if your buying new, you will void your warranty
if you put a plow on a 1500, as i inquired while buying a 4x4 1500 new
two weeks ago. they are only meant to be used on the 2500 and 3500, i
got 4x4 and have had zero problems in two of possibly the worst
snowstorms in new england history over the last two weeks. good luck
with your decision, either way you will be happy

My owner's manual says it too....plow with the 1500,warranty over!</P>
"Dodge Ram 1500 Models Note: Do notuse Dodge Ram 1500 Models for snow-plow applications." The reason is, itcan change the attitude ofyour front end andaffect the "airbag crash sensors."</P>
As long as you're careful in the snow, and you Don't want to plow with it, the 2wd would be finer than frog hair, with some "secured" weight in the back.Don't make me tell you how I know about how securing you load is important.... <IMG src=smileys/smiley18.gif border="0"></P>
Given my location, and sinceI have a 2500 lb. boat to tow (as often as possible), I wouldn'tconsider anythingother than a4x4. Just depends on what you're using your truck for......</P>
Best of luck with it.... T</P>
