Shocks - 2007 Ram 1500 Short Bed 2x4

I just got a 2007 Ram 1500 2x4, short bed, and I think it is undershocked. The roads I drive on range from gravel to interstate with the majority being 2 lane county roads. The window sticker said "heavy duty shocks" but these seem to produce a harsh, underdampened ride. However, after putting 1k miles on the truck, the tires, brake and suspension seems to be breaking in and the ride is smoothing out...
Looking on line, NONE of my regular parts sources have listings for the 2007 Dodge Trucks yet for shock absorbers. Are they the same as all the other third generation trucks, 1/2 ton, short bed, two wheel drive? I can find decent prices on Ranchero, Grabrial, Monroe IF I can order directly by part number. I can easily find listings are part number for up to 2005 models.
I routinely tune my own suspensions, make up my own spring packs, trim and intsall leaf spring leafs, rebuild mcpherson stuts, rebuild my own motorcycle forkasemblies and such. On the motorcycles I have Koni, Wilbers and Hagons shocks intstalled and expect to pay a fraction for decent automotive shocks compared to motorcycle shock/strut assemblies.
So, I am looking for guidance for specific part numbers and recommendations on different manufacturers. Ranchero has a very good reputation and I like having shocks with available boots, since it keeps the shafts from getting damaged from rocks, dirt, dust and mud. But certainly don't mind using the mass market brands.

OK, aftera week of research, I have struck some paydirt...
Talked to Ranchero and the part numbers for the 2002-2006 1/2 ton, 2wd short bedare RS5281 front and RS5274 rear, they plan to do their verification fit test on the 2007 models in the next 10 weeks or so, they asked me to call back in March.
Once the part numbers are verified as good, Jegs Performance has the best prices I have found so far, in the neighborhood of $165 for the set of four, with boots. The rear shocks are in stock, the front shocks are available by special order and the same price.
So now we have to wait a few months until we have fit verification results...

hey guys... welcome to DF... my suggestion is check out the edlebrock IAS performer shocks... they do really well on the dirt roads at higher speeds. I have them on my '05 and they work really well on the dirt roads...

Spent som time on this issue today...stopped at the local dodge shop and no TSB on the shocks, and the 2006-2007 shocks are different than 2002-2005.
The local car quest can get me some off-brand shocks for 1.5 x price of Rancho 5000 series shocks, the bilstiens are out of stockfor the front.
And coming home Sunday in terrible weather for 500 milesin wind, rain, and bad roads, the suspension really let us down or maybe I am just demanding more.
And one last tidbit, Rancho is owned my Monroe, but four decent rancho shocks are still less than ONE rear motorcycle shock!
