Default Looking for some exhaust input.

I have a '04 Dodge Ram Quad Cab 4x4 with a HEMI engine and 3.92 diff. I want to put on a performance exhaust. I am leaning towards the flowmaster and I was wondering if anyone has one on a hemi and what flowmaster they got. I am looking for performance gain and that deep throaty sound that comes from a flowmaster. I have also read some conflicting information on the fact that with the PCM the HEMI has a new exhaust will not do anything for me. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Again, I am looking for people that actually have and drive a '04 HEMI with an aftermarket exhaust.

If you have the money get the Dynatech headers and a 40 flowmaster. Then get any number of CIA and walah.. close to 400hp. I have it and it makes a huge difference over stock. Eric

I dont' buy the 400 hp. Headers, a muffler and a new intake would get you 50 hp in the 60s when everything was 2 inch exhaust and cast iron boat anchors for manifolds. You would be lucky to get 20 hp increase for those mods. The engineers got just about all they could and stay emissions legal from the hemi. If you add the best hp number claims from each manufacturer you won't get a 55 hp increase...

Now to the original question, buy what you like the sound of exhaust wise, a muffler is all you need. You do have two cats so you can go to true duals really easy. I went with the aero-turbine 3030, sounds great. After I get tired of the sound under WOT accelleration I'll have numbers for mpg.

I don't buy 400 either, that's why I said CLOSE to 400. I do know that my 04 with headers/higher flow cats, with single 40 flowmaster and crappy CAI blows my other 04 stock hemi's doors off no matter who is driving either vehicle. Before the header install the second truck was quicker than the header truck.

I've seen claims for the headers making a big difference on the Hemi. If you ever looked at the exhaust manifolds you'd see why. They are absolutely crude throwbacks to the 60's. You wouldn't believe it. There may be a couple HP in the muffler, but I can't believe the piping would give you anything substantial on it's own.

It is good to know that some of this stuff actually DOES work for the Hemi.

I have a Rumble-Bee and on their forum, many have asked the same question. From what I'm gathering, from many sources, the new Flowmaster (part #9530572) is your answer. It's made strictly for the hemi. 3" inlet 2 1/2"outlet. 4" center. Great sound, street legal and doesn't void your warranty. My stock exhaust has a 3" in and a 3" outlet with a resonator. Breaths real well. From what I understand. If you go with a set of duels (with cross over or X-pipe) and these mufflers, tou get a real rich throaty sound and lotsa uuuumph.
Actually, I was one of the people that asked that question. Got info'd to death. Guess it boils down to, ya ask 5 mechanics what's best, you'll have no less than 3 "this is the best". That's my 2 cents. Good luck.
