I have found a 1999 Ram 1500 SLT 4X4 5.9 gas quad cab. I abosolutely love it. It seems to drive out really well and the dealer has a fair price on it but it has 184,000 mile on it!! The transmission has been rebuilt once. (not sure how long ago) Here is where I need your advice. How long do these trucks last? What should I have inspected before I buy it? The truck looks great but I just can't seem to get past the 184K. Let me know what you think. tomtrimble@bigdawgventures.com
Thanks,

Not sure how much help I can be but in my opinion theRam is a great truck. I have had mine for little over a year now and love it! No issues to speak of and I love the ride. If the truck your interested in has had regular oil changes and inspections then I say go for it! Good luck, hope this helps.

How much is a fair price? Did you look up book value? I like mine, but I only have 109K on my 96 and can't tell you what to expect. Was it used to tow durring those miles (hard miles)? How was it maintained? Any records ect? All these issues can affect the longevity and can be used as bargining chips if the price is high, that way if it does break, you have some $ to fix it!

149k on mine and still going strong .
Take it to a shop and have it inspected and get a carfax report.
These rams are pretty tuff .
Good luck.[8D]

all depends on how they are taken care of... with these trucks, if the motor has been serviced properly, it'll last a lot longer than 200k...
