Default Computer resetting issue

I have noticed something with my transmission shifting problem. If I re-set the computer by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes, the transmission shifts fine. However, when I turn the ignition off and crank it back up, it doesn't shift into 3rd or 4th gear. This thing is driving me nuts. Has anyone experienced this? By the way, I dropped the pan today, no metal particles on the magnet. I refilled it with ATF-4 and a can of TransTune, but I still have the same problem.

If it is a computer problem, where is the most likely culprit located?

Well, I got it figured out. I had it scanned at Autozone and it came up with a P0753 error code. Well, it was the speed sensor module that screws into the side of the transfer case. It cost me $30 bucks to replace it. Autozone had one in stock.

If any of you come across the problem, it is a module with a white plastic 1" hex bolt. A 2-wire female plug hooks to it. It is located on the transfer case on the drivers side. Changing it out only takes about 5 minutes. When you remove the old one, be careful, about a 1/2 cup of transmission fluid may come out which may be hot.
