Default Some problems with 96 Ram

I have a 96 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L and I wanted to know some if there are some problems that I should keep my eyes open for on the 96.

Ive had a few problems with it already. 1: the gas tank doesnt register the right amount of gas (Always looks empty unless its completely full), which Ive heard happens a lot, and 2: the switch to turn on the head lights burnt out and I had to replace it. Are there any well know problems with the 96 that I should know about?

ive had mine for about a year now. the only two problems ive had is
1- the cat failed, apparently very common
2- grille shell imounts cracked so it shakes now.

from the searching ive done i havent really found any problems really that common except for the cat.

a little fuury thing that always causes grief. Some chase birds and mice. Go by names like Tom, Heathcliff, Garfield, etc..

Catalytic converter-cat for short

also watch for lower intake gaskets blowing out causing internal oil leak and will lead to detonantion and oil consumption problems.

Unless I am mistaken, the light switch problem was a recall.... and my 94 grill is loose, due to the broken mounts. I wiretied it, so now its tight

also, if you have or put on a bug deflector the plastic clampds that hold the mirrors in place internally will sometimes fail from the air turbulance caused by the deflector. all it causes is for the mirrors to not stay put at highway speeds. there are plenty of things you can do if it happens. personally it happened to me and i replced my mirrors with that of a 98 ram, no more worries.
