new ram owner have a mpg ?
I just bought a 99 dodge ram v10 8L. I just installed a k@n air filter and I am running at about 11mpg. but would like to get that higher I was tolda fuel injection performance kit would help and a computer chip could be installed to optimize mpg. Is this true or do you have any suggestions for me please help!
Kale's right, a good synthetic oil will help as will a free flowing exhaust. Most computers are for performance which hurts fuel mileage for more power, but there probably are some out there to optimize fuel economy which may lower the performance a little.
I just traded a '95 2500 Laramie with a V10 for an '04 1500 HEMI.
The old truck got 10 MPG consistently, and that was with a K&N
filter and a Borla cat-back system. The new truck gets 13.5 MPG
so far and should improve as it breaks in (700 miles on the odo so
far). The K&N is getting installed at 3000 miles and another
Borla cat-back in the spring.
FWIW, nothing beats the low-end torque of that V10; not even the HEMI. Enjoy all those cubes!!!
