Hi all. I just had my dodge truck painted a tanish color with brown pinstripe with brown interrior (not my choices) BUT thats not my problme. My gate worked fine before and now 1 of the latches doesnt work when i pull the handle. Im not sure what the problem can be, one of the hatches lifts right up but the other just stays lached down. Im not sur ehow to fix it also.

 

If you can get to the backside of the tailgate, there is a panel that is screwed in. Under the panel is the latching mechanism. What probably has happened is that the rod has come undone. Now that i think about it, take it back to the painter(if they worked on the tailgate) and have them fix it.
