Default I've had my Dodge 3 days, here's the results..

I've had my Dodge for 3 days and I took it by a professional Mechanic place today, and they said it's my Spider Gears giving me trouble. My truck was sold AS-IS with No Warranty from the Dealership. How much are these gears going to cost me plus the cost to install them? Anyone know? This is a pain.

Just a quick question, did you buy this at a Dodge dealership? Or a private lot?

Spider gears should not be to bad...none of the adjustments need to changed or be set. dependiing on the diff...sometimes these can be changed without removing the carrier. You do need to know what is in there as far as type of rear end ...limited slip etc in order to get a good quote. Check with a local 4x4 club and see who does all their gear changes and work.....

It's a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 (not 4x4), with 42,000 miles on it. I bought it from a Chevrolet dealer. They had it on their lot, I liked it, so I purchased it. The guy yesterday said "Yep, you deff. have Spider Gears, and they sound bad!" I'm taking it back up to the dealership tomorrow, but I have no idea what I am going to say. I bought it AS-IS with No Warranty, but they also said that they take EVERY vehicle through a Full Service Check to make sure everything's right. Obviously, this one didn't get that checkup or didn't get a good checkup. I didn't think they could sell you a vehicle that had something wrong with the gears without telling you. What should I do or tell them tomorrow?

I have never seen a dealership sell a truck with only 42k miles without some kind of warranty. Thats weird.

Dealerships are REQUIRED BY LAW to provide a 30-day warranty on ALL vehicles they sell NO MATTER WHAT YOU SIGNED.

Yellow, were you paying 450+ a month for a 2001 reg cab with 44K on it? I couldn't really make out what you were saying there.
