It's probably the injectors.

I have a 2004 HEMI, (Yeah! It's got a HEMI) and mine does the same thing. I haven't noticed if it does with theheater on or off. I will try to do this test tomorrow.

the ticking noise is probably caused by the duty cycle purge solenoid. it is part of the emissions system. we have a lot of complaints about that at our service dept. as far as i know there are no technical service bullitins on it.

Hi Mopar Guy.

Thanks for the explanation about a possible cause of the ticking
noise. So long as it's nothing to worry about, then I'm cool with
the very subtle ticking. And as Amanda says, a louder exhaust
(coming in the Spring) will fix it for good!

Is that the same stupid little cylinder shaped emissions peice that makes a ticking/clicking sound on my R/T when it's cold? I know it's nothing to worry about, I just don't know the name of the part.
