2006 Ram 1500 Interior Light
I purchased an 06 Ram 1500 QC 4x4 and I have a problem with the interior light. With the key out &exiting the vehicle it stays on for about 15 seconds before it goes out even with the door open. Needless to say getting out in darkness is annoying! The dealer and DC customer service said this is normal and was designed to save the battery (what the F*%#). Heck the headlights stay on longer after I get out of the truck! I'm told they MAY release a new revision to the body computer software to adjust it but they won't say when! Someone please tell me that my truck is broke!
they are bull ****ting u it does not work like that ne way I know how it works I cant tell u so that u will understand it but here is how chrysler says it works and i know the tech that looked at your truck does not know how it works either. ANd u can change your settings either in your over head or if it just started to happen setting with a starscan or there is an issue with the Insterment cluster thats were the BCM lives now.
After all of the ajar switch inputs to the EMIC transition to open, the EMIC will keep the courtesy lamps illuminated for about 30 seconds, then fade the lamps to OFF (theater dimming) over about 3 seconds. The EMIC also provides courtesy lamp operation based upon a resistor multiplexed input from the vertical thumbwheel on the headlamp switch, and provides an illuminated entry feature in response to certain electronic message inputs received from the Sentry Key REmote Entry Module (SKREEM) (also known as the Wireless Control Module/WCM) and the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) over the Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus. A resistor multiplexed courtesy lamp DEFEAT input from the vertical thumbwheel of the headlamp switch will cause the EMIC to override normal courtesy lamp operation based upon inputs from all of the ajar switches. For those lamps on the courtesy lamp circuit with independent switching such as the standard or optional map/reading lamps, the optional vanity lamps, and the glove box lamp the EMIC provides a battery voltage output to the switches through a separate circuit. The EMIC provides a battery saver (load shedding) feature for all courtesy lamps, which will automatically turn these lamps OFF if they are left ON for more than about 10 minutes with the ignition switch in the OFF position.

I was going to ask if it did the same with any door open. Now I would also like to ask about the possition of the vertical thumbwheel of the headlamp switch (for the courtesy lamp DEFEAT input signal).
