08 Sprinter3.0 diesel oil light flashing
Just bought a 2008 Dodge sprinter 2500 3.0 merc. diesel. 174000mls, engine idles well and has good power. Driving home, the oil warning light stated flashing at 65mph. Light stopped flashing when speed was reduced and is OK at idle. Oil level OK, changed oil/filter, took out 13qts.
If this were an older Saab it would have sludge being sucked into the oil pickup screen, blocking oil flow but Saab only has 4qts and only happens with conventional oil.
So the question is where is the likely restriction? Will fresh synthetic oil clear it? Can the oil pickup be clogged? Should I remove the oil pan and clean it? Any other suggestions
