New Sprinter owner...so questions
My wife and I bought a new 2006 Winnabago View C-class motor home built on a 3500 Dodge Sprinter chassis. I really like the Dodge/ Mercedes. But I have a few questions.
1 Where can I get a service manuel. Something like a Chiltons or Haynes. went to a couple of parts stores and just got the blank look from behind the counter.
2 Where the heck is the oil filter? Its the 5 cyl Mercedes turbo diesel.
3 How much oil does it take?
4 I want to add a Trabold bypass oil filter and need to tee off the oil sender unit. Where is that at?
5 Anybody know what size the lug pattern is for the duelly?
6 I want to get some nicer rims. Any body know who makes them?
Thanks
Tim

Congrats on your purchase!
1. You can buy a service manual straight from Chrysler. You can get a service manual on CD ($90), and/or wiring diagrams ($60).
Yes, the price is a little high, but, let me tell you, it has much more information than any other manual will ever have. I bought a manual for my '96 Dakota, and I will never go back to a Haynes or Chiltons. (I figure, you just paid a good chunk of change for your motorhome, spend another $100 or so to have the best service information on it).
Now, if you owned a Ram, I could give you a link to a service manual, but I haven't found one for the Sprinter.
As far as 2-6, I don't know. Sorry. There are people on here that maybe able to help you. (You may want to send a PM to dodgedlr, he can probably help ya out.)

There is plenty of aftermarket stuff for the Dodge (M-B) Ram Sprinter. However, a majority of it is in Europe! The UK seems to have the most, but be careful since they drive on the other side of the highway.
The Sprinter has been around for awhile in Europe.
Gizmo UK here should be able to point you to a few good sources.
As the Sprinter gets more popular over here, I would expect those aftermarket parts to flow over here for sales too.

The oil filter is located on the top right side of the engine, just foreward of the fuel filter. it takes a paper type filter insert. There are after market filters available for this, just dont ask for a filter for a Dodge Sprinter, instead give your Mercedes engine information.
I recently purchased a 2007 Winnebago View motor home mounted on a 2006 Dodge Sprinter. I was on vacation in Florida when the dreaded plastic turbo resonator blew out. The vehicle only had 2,800 miles on it at the time of the breakdown. I noticed an immediate loss of power. I had to hold the accelerator all the way down just to go 35 MPH. I kept watching the RPMs and the temperature gage, and they remained normal. There was no warning light visible on the dash. I called Dodge roadside service. This was a holiday weekend, right before New Years. All they could do was tow my motor home to an authorized Dodge Sprinter dealer on Saturday. They would not be able to evaluate the vehicle until Tuesday morning. I had to hire a cab to a get to the airport, where I could rent a car to return to Michigan. We were traveling with our 2 dogs. We both had to be back to work on Tuesday morning. We had no choice but to rent a car and head home. The Dodge Sprinter was miraculously fixed by midday on Tuesday. The problem was the infamous plastic turbo resonator. We had heard a loud pop under the hood that was the 2 piece plastic blowing apart. We at the time thought that the transmission had blown. I am mad as hell at both Dodge and Winnebago. Dodge says that they will only pay for 4 days of rental car fees. Winnebago has offered to pay nothing. I had to take 3 days vacation to return to Florida to pick up the motor home. The total distance traveled was an extra 2200 miles roundtrip. Surprisingly, Dodge replaced the broken plastic resonator with an exact replica. I drove back to Michigan very carefully knowing that I could easily blow apart this cheap plastic part. The on board computer of the Dodge Sprinter mistakenly thought that there was a catastrophic failure with the turbo, and automatically went into limp mode.
TRY SPRINTER ON E-BAY MOTORS. THEY COMMONLY HAVE SERVICE MANUALS FOR DIFFERENT YEARS FOR SALE BY AUCTION. LET ME KNOW IF YOU KNOW OF ANYBODY IN NEED OF NEW 2 & 3 PERSON BENCH SEATS. I HAVE SOME I WOULD LIKE TO SELL
