Loss of oil Pressure? Hard Rattling? What is the problem?

Slowing down to a redlight from about 50 mph I notice that at about 10 mph my oil light comes on, and my engine sputters a bit. At this point my oil pressure is normal,and my temperature is normal. I accelerate as usual and coming up to the next light, and notce the sputtering again but this time with a hard rattling noise coming fromthe drivers side. Myoil pressure drops and doesnt recover. IPulled over and checked my oil and it wasall still there, The Rattlingcontinued asI let it run for a little bit, then shut her down to figure the problem out.What could the problem be anddo I do about fixing it...Any help would be helpful....Thanks a lot

I'll have to get back to you on that I dont have any tools with me seeing as I just moved out of state, and left my fathers garage at home [>:]. What If I have no compression?
My father suggested I may have spun a bearing and may have totake the crank outand get it remachined. Definately does not look like fun, at leat not with the lack ofequipmentI have...

i'm the same boat as you are. since i moved(three weeks now) i have to go out and buy tools to work on my cars when before i could look in my stepfathers garage or my friends garage lol. If you have no compression you need a rebuild, but i think that it is a good possibility that you will have to do what your father said. You might get lucky and find that it's the iol pump thatwent out and rattles for some reason.
