My son and I bought this car a few months ago. It's in great shape, 183k, one owner with all maint records. It has always run great until a couple of days ago. It starts up, idels out, then you hear clicking noises coning from a device on the intake manifold and inside from behind the radio. The check engine lite comes on and the engine seems to bogg down and die. From this site, I now know the ECM is behind the radio. We will buy a book, so I will be better able to identify components. Is there a special type of OBD tester I should get to aid in diagnosing the problem. Any help on this will be appreciated.

 

the clicking sound behind the radio is the ecm. if you check ebay, you can find a repair manual for $9. its a cd. got mine there.what year is the car? check autocomputerexchange.com. you can have your ecu the next day.
