I was driving around today doing nothing wrong when i was pulled over by a cop. Believe me i was doing nothing wrong since there was a blizzard and i and everyone else was driving 5 to 10 mph. ANYWAYS the cop pulls me over and asks me why dont i have a front license plate. I live in illinois and know that the law here requires that i have plates on the front and rear of all cars excluding motorcycles. There is no place that i could put the plates so i didnt care. i figured that the cops would see and not care. He made me drill two holes in the front, which i did not want to do. Then he tells me on top of that that i have to get a mounting for the plates and the local dodge dealer tells me that it will cost $ 89 to get specially ordered.FUDGE THAT.
The worst part is that he gave me a ticket and i have to go to court and pay $300 for that stupid 5 seconds that i passed a cop. So my question is has this ever happened to any one and where can i get cheaper mounting brackets.

 

thats gota suck i live in illinois too and non of the cars in my family have front license plates and we have never got any trouble and i live next door to a cop and then 3 houses down the other way is my highschool cop

 

Never had that problem, my neon is the 1st car that I have one on, an when I get my new bumper, I won't have one.

 

Wing it your self. As much as your gut curdles when you do it. I put two, dead center because I ran into the same problem. It hurts and I am trying to get a new bumper (cough cough) so I can have the holes gone.

 

man i live in IL too but no ones bothered me about anything. i dont have a front plate and i have limo tint all around bsides the windshield......maybe im just lucky. u wouldnt happen to have a mesh grill insert would u. cause i have friends that have rigged plates to their inserts to spare their bumpers.
