Default timing belt and water pump :(

My water pump went out and my timing belt got tore up and broke I have never replaced either. I was wondering if someone could provide me with in depth detail on how to change them properly. And help would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to find the procedure in detail at www.stealth316.com. It would be listed under "60K maintenence". However, if the timing belt broke, you most likely will have bent valves, which would require removing the heads from the engine. If you have questions, let me know.

I have heard that since I have an SOHC then I have very good chance that my heads are okay. Is that true? And if not. Is there an easy way I can check?

Sorry, I just assumed it was a DOHC engine. A SOHC engine is a non-interference engine which means the valves won't hit the pistons nomatter how bad out of time it is. So you shouldn't have to worry about bent valves.

Okay, thanks. That makes me feel better. But I have a another problem...

Whoever was messing with the water pump before me broke a bolt head off and now it is flush with the surrounding metal So I can't even get another bold out to start thinking about puting my new water pump back on...

And as you all know I am not the smartest cookie when it comes to mechanical stuff and I'm kind of new to it... so is there anyway possible to get that bolt out so I can get a new one in?
