ok i got some ?'s latley i have been talking to people and some say the avenger beats the stealth easily and others say the stealth wins. ok so my ?'s are stock vs stock whats the better overal car? whats the top speed of an avenger? whats the top speed of a stealth? 0 to 60 time? i was told an avenger stock would go 150mph and same as the stealth was i told wrong? right now im looking at a 95 avenger and a 94 stealth rt. what is the best model of an avenger to get?

 

A TT stealth would simply rape an avenger, no questions.

An NA stealth should be faster, as the engine is a little bigger 3L as opposed to a 2.5L. I think some of the later Avengers had a 2.7L, but still has less HP than a Stealth. The only thing an Avenger has the upper hand at is you can actually fit someone in the back seat.

You would have to look up the stats for both vehicles online because I don't claim to know all there is to know about Avengers so I could be mistaken.

 

the avengers only came with mitsu V6s, since they were technically the dying end of DSM, so they were all packed with the 2.5 V6. if there was ever a 2.7 avenger, ive never seen one, and i am fairly sure they dont exist from the factory. mitsu went to the bigger 3.0 6g72 with the 2g stratus. i dont recall what the engine code is on the stealth 3.0, but i know they arent the same engines. I am fairly sure that the V6 avengers only came in automatics, and from what ive seen at the track, any manual trans stealth will beat the v6 avengers. i know someone who runs one, stock, and he runs high 17s.

 

I wasn't sure on the engine size, I know that Sebrings initially offered a 2.5 (what my wifes car has) but currently offer a 2.7L By that time though, Avengers had probably went by the wayside. So I was just making an assumption. A Stealth 3L's nomenclature is 6g72 also.

The 6g72 for Mitsu is like a sbc for chevy. It has been used in everything from sports cars to mini-vans to fork lifts.

 

hmmm...i thought it was a different code. is your TB on the passenger side or drivers side? i wonder if the parts are interchangable, because the 6g74 has a high flow intake manifold, and that is the manifold that the guys with the blown RTs use...evidently just changing to the 6g74 manifold, which has longer runners and is ported bigger, gives 10 horsepower, which is why the eclipse GT with my intake has 200hp, and the GTS has 210. wasnt your stock hp Much higher than mine?

 

The main difference between the motors is the DOHC or SOHC heads. The heads are not interchangeable due to the water jackets not lining up properly. My intake points to the passenger side, but I believe the bolt hole pattern is the same. My motor was rated optimistically from the factory at 222hp.

 

youre not thinking that it makes 222? thats what i thought the advertised power was. yours is dohc, correct? the hyundai tirburon also uses the 6g72...but they use an alternative engine code.

 

Yes, I think Mitsu may have fudged the numbers a little. If memory serves (damn short term memory loss ) the later model years of the 3000gt, the engines were rated at like 216hp or something like that. Yes, my engine is DOHC.

 

which car do you guys think is the better starter car? im looking for sumthing no one at my school has and there are no stealths or avengers. working on them is no problem seeing as my dad is a mechanic and ive been working on them basically since ive been born. what do you guys think is the biggest bang for the buck? sumthing fun?

 

the stealth is the better car...but the avenger is gonna be much cheaper
