check your ecu for leaking capacitors.

91stealthguy 09-22-2010 11:27 PM

ok so that might cause the way it runs then if they r leaking

thestealth 09-23-2010 06:58 AM

yes, leaky capacitors will cause all sorts of odd issues. They are also something that is common especially among the 91-93 models.

91stealthguy 09-23-2010 11:07 AM

ok so if they r leaking can i replace them or do i have to replace the hole ECU

thestealth 09-23-2010 11:17 AM

If you're capable of electronics repair, you could do it yourself. I've had good dealings with ECMTOGO.com, others have had good luck with AVPRO.com (both ECU rebuild companies). I've picked up a rebuilt ECU at OReilly.

well my buddy is very good at this stuff so im going to get a hold of him if it is the problem. and how would i flash it to get the check engine light off

91stealthguy 09-23-2010 12:45 PM

ok so it is leaking and got over a few things so i might have to replace those too so im hoping this is my only problem

thestealth 09-23-2010 01:29 PM

Get the ECU all squared away, I bet the CEL will go away as well. :)

Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

91stealthguy 09-23-2010 03:53 PM

ok will do hoping to have my buddy fix it tonight and see how it runs then thanks for the help

Girly TT 09-23-2010 04:35 PM

if the ECU is bad, you need to clean the boad, and soder on new capacitors. You're best off sending it to someone who knows what they are doing. www.avproecm.com
