Default 91 R/T with...

34k on engine
130k on body
short ram intake
new exhaust

Problems:
when shifting from 1st to 2nd it grinds unless i shift at extremely low rpms. Every other gear shifts perfectly fine and when i still grind because i didnt wait long enough between shifts the check engine light sometimes comes on.
What should i try to fix this?

It has nice power to around 75mph but what helps achieve more pull or acceleration beyond 75mph?

Sounds like you need a Trans rebuild. Check engine light problem would require a scanner or voltmeter to read what code it's throwing. It may store it into the ecu.

Dam, are you sure? The gear shifting sound is only in second and the check engine light comes and goes periodically. I was told it may be the linkage. Is there anything i can try to do to get rid of the sound before facing the fact of a tranny rebuilt?

You can try a fluid change, but the damage is already done. If its grinding already, you will need a new gear, syncro, and slider assembly. Probably $250 in parts plus the labor to do it. The rest of the syncro rings are about $20 each, so I would replace them as well.

Ok thanks for your help... I thought the cost would be worse, how long of a fix do you think it is? Although, I am praying for it to be something minor because the sound isn't as much as a grind sound as i thought...its a very odd sound that doesn't sound damaging. I wish you could hear it.
