Default Is this part a solenoid or what?

I have changed the plugs, plug wires, fuel filter and put on a new 02 sensor and I still have a miss in all RPM ranges. The part i'm asking about is located on the firewall, directly behind the windshield wiper fluid cap. It has 1 electrical connector and 2 vacum hoses. The one hose goes to the top of the throttle body and the other goes about 7 inches below the throttle body to a vacum connector with 1 of the 2 connecters plugged. If i unplug the electrical connector and the 2 vacum lines it does not affect the engine at all. How do I check to see if this part is working correctly? Thanks!

I think the part you are referring to is the boost control solenoid.

Stealth316, is this the solenoid you are referring too?

My Stealth is a non-turbo. My Stealth has only 1 solenoid that is located exactly where this picture shows. I wonder if it's the fuel pressure solenoid?

Right, my mistake...

On my NA, there is nothing in that spot. It is just the mounting bracket. hmmm, I don't have my NA at work today, but when I get home, I'll check to make sure.

I just checked the exact wording on the inside of the hood and where it shows the vacuum connections and the part is called "solenoid valve." That's all it says. What the heck does it do? Very strange. Is there some procedure that can be done to see if the "solenoid valve" is doing what it should be doing?

You should be able to energize it to see if it opens or closes.
