Default VIC motor-What does it do exactly?

Same problem with my 92 R/T non-turbo DOHC. It has a miss in most rpm ranges. Have done many things to fix it. I have started to do electrical test on most(IAC-ISC-Coils-CAS sensor, etc)and everything test's out fine except the VIC motor. I'm all the ALL-DATA site and it says to check the wireing harness first. I did this and all but one wire show's continuity. One wire shows nothing. I left the VIC motor disconnected and drove it and it still runs the way it did before. Depending on just what exactly the VIC motor does you would think that having it not connected would make the car engine run even worse. To me this just doesn't make any sense. I'm thinking if I track down the electrical problem(It's pin #2)and fix it,my original miss problem won't be fixed. Try leaving your MAS diconnected and you know right away there is a problem. What does the VIC motor do?. Like I said, this makes no sense. Many Thanks for your help!! John
