Default White Smoke

Car recently started to put out white smoke at start-up...( I hate smoke..specialy on these "perty" cars.
I took it to the shop and they are replacing the cylinder heads gaskets...hope that will fix any problems with the smoke.
They will also mashineshop the heads in case they are warped.

This is what happen: Thermostat got stuck and noticed the high temp..i would say 2 min while runing on red....hope the heads are not warped.
There are no bubles in the coolant ....but it looses coolant while I turn the heat on....the switch to 1 or higher..not just heat from the engine while coming from the outside. I think thats a heater core issue ...??? any ideas ? Coolant passes trough the heater core while is on..so if its bad i asume is leaking or get evaporated somewhere in the proces..it looses all the coolant in 200 miles of driving if the heater is on.

K..so I hoppe smoke problem will be fixed at the shop....told them to leave the heater core alone..its in the dashboard and it might be a pain to change it...will do that in the garage in a week-end..if thats the problem.

Need some input on these issues guys

Ohh..for anyone that had light issues....mine just went out one day..all of them (head lights, fog lights) it was a resistor 12V under the hood. While at it I have changed all of them with newer smaller ones.

If you overheated it, I would say you are doing the right thing by changing the head gasket and having the heads checked out. While you have the heads off, you should have the "3rd gen" lifters installed. They have a bigger oil passage than the the originals and end the dreaded lifter (lash adjuster) ticking.

Normally if your heater core is leaking, it will be damp in the passenger side floorboard, or under that side of the car. Did you pull the dipstick?? If the antifreeze leaks into the crankcase, it will "froth" the oil. While they have the heads off, I strongly recommend changing the tbelt, water pump, idlers, tensioners etc.

I don't know about the electrical issue, sorry.

Thanks guys...the shop has done just that, changed water pump, pulleys, belts, rebuild the heads, changed gaskets and all that stuff...will go pick it up today, hopefully it runs smooth. Cost about 1300$ sounds a good price for me...I know its worth it.

Thanks.
