Took my Stealth to my mechanic-I don't work on cars anymore-and he said I need new motor mounts. He tried to get them and had trouble locating the parts so I told him I could get them off the internet. I need a good source for the parts and I need some advice.

I did a search on ebay and found some inserts listed but they were $159 plus $12.95 for shipping. That seems pretty expensive. Do I need more than just the inserts? Are motor mounts replaced completely? or is it enough to just put in new inserts? Anyone know of a better deal? Thanks in advance

The question is, do you need to replace the whole motor mount or is it OK to just replace the rubber insert part?

In the center of each of the rubber parts it looks like there is a metal pin that needs to be removed. How hard is it to get them out and then insert them into the new inserts? Does the metal on the old mounts fatigue? Is it just simpler and cleaner to just replace the entire mount with a new one?

But the big thing is I'm trying to keep the cost down and was wondering if there is a less expensive source out there for these?

 

I have heard of people just replacing the inserts. Any shop that has a press should be able to press the parts in and out for a small fee. I have heard that people will use "window weld" on their old motor mounts with success...but I would say only do that if you feel comfortable doing so. Window weld
