Valve seals or piston rings, I had the same problem.

White smoke, only on idle, gradually losing oil, holding coolant...

How is the oil pressure holding out on your gauges when you drive, and when you idle?

And, one more thing, park your car on clean cement if possible and leave it overnight, when you come back the next day, see if you have any oil leaks anywhere...when my seals started going out, they all went out at the same time...which cause me to lose oil on a daily basis.

the compression holds pretty well while I'm driving around, and of course, drop to just about the safety line when I idle. Glad to see someone else has teh problem. Did you replace the seals yourself, or take it into a shop? If you did it yourself, how long did it take, and did you need to remove the heads to pull the seals?

Or if you took it into a shop, how much did it cost, and how long did it take them?

Instead of buying a regular compression tester, get a leak down tester. They cost a little more (because of the two arrows and relief valve) but they work well for diagnosing bleed down. You can buy one at most better auto parts stores. You can check Auto Zone, or other similar parts house, to see if they loan them. How the loan a tool program works is that you basically pay for the tool upfront and use it as long as you need to. When you bring it back, they give you a full refund. They have lots of specialty tools that you might not need very often. Keep us posted on your progress.

I am having this same problem on my 94 RT--N/A....White/Blue smoke that smells absolutly awfull only at an idle...I have had cars that burn oil before and this does not smell even close to the same...I was wondering if that might be because its fully senthetic motor oil? I do not use/loose any coolant whatsoever, so I figure it has to be blow-by from the rings right? I read that someone said that it may be due to the "valve seals"? I have only had the car for a few months and it runs like a top, I have great oil pressure while driving, and falls about 3-4 lines above the bottom of the gauge at an idle when fully warm...Also the car does not smoke at all when the engine is cold (for about the first 10 minutes of the day) or driving down the highway. It smokes less when on Power Vs Economy. I have went to the parts store and got a bottle of "Bars Stop Leak and Smoke" which says it will cure all of your problems (of course). But it has helped a bunch cutting the smoke by more than half. They guy i bought the car from said that he had not changed the back 3 spark plugs since he bought it in 98, Could this be part of my smoking problems? Sorry for jumping around on topics, I am just typing what i think when i think it. Oh and does anyone know that actual range of the Oil Pressure Gauge in psi?

Another product that you could try is Engine Restore. Use the 6cyl formula.
