is it bad to drive without timing belt covers besides the risk of geting your fingers mangled in there if your under the hood? I think it looks pretty cool w/out the two upper ones on but not sure if its bad to run it w/out them...

It's not bad, but you do run more of a chance of damaging the t-belt (and fingers) with no covers. If you ever drive on gravel roads, the dust and dirt will shorten the t-belt life.
