Default Idle problem fixed

Well finally some good news! For those having idle problems this may help... (Thanks to 'thestealth'). I took off the IAC and cleaned it and the throttle body that was exposed after taking the IAC off. There were several ports in this area that were filled with black crap. The STP cleaner took care of it thought less than $3. I went ahead and changed the air filter too. Be careful when cleaning the IAC not to get the coils wet. I dont know, but Im sure it wouldnt work well if you applied current to them with them wet.

Now all I need is a couple of window operators. If anyone knows where to get these a decent price, let me know.

I thought 3sxperformance sold the window regulators, but since they updated their site I cannot find them. I know the dealer will sell them, give Rockville Mitsu a call, they have as good of prices for OEM parts as I have found. Did you check any local auto parts stores?

You can get a spray can of carb and throttle body cleaner from any parts store or Wal-Mart. Remove your intake tube from the throttle body and the IAC. The spray will clean out the gunk easily enough. If that does not work check for air leaks (disconnected, deteriorated or damaged tubes). There is off the shelf fuel injector cleaner though I'm not sure how effective they are. If you try them, use it on a full tank of gas without making any of the other changes to see if by the end of the tank you see any improvement.

I know it's frustrating but by making ony one change at a time you can better identify what actually corrected the problem. Good luck!

The Carb cleaner is made so it will not harm your engine. It is kind of like spraying gas into your intake. If your engine is running it will momentarily bogg down due to the air/fuel ratio being screwed up but it clears quickly. I have used it all the time when rebuilding carburators and cleaning fouled throttle bodies.
