Default Engines being replaced frequently?

As a prospective buyer I'm wondering why all these cars engines have failed around 100k miles. Is there a design flaw causing them to die young? My Buick Reatta with the 3.8 V6 has 172k miles and runs like new.It just makes it difficult to know what to buy or not to buy.Obviously a clean car with a new (rebuilt)engine seems more desireable than an original owners car with 100k mi. I'm just confused how to find the right one.I believe the Stealth to be an awesome vehicle that I want to own.Any advise will be gratefully appreciated,Thanks I Refin

It all depends upon how well the vehicle was maintained. My RT/TT has 180K on it and my RT has 160K, original engines.

most of these engines have no problems, the reason they blow around 100k is that the 60k service never gets done. they give you a 40k buffer in which to get your timing belt and waterpump done. if you dont, poof!
