i dont know.. my neighbor has a eclipse gst (frontwheel turbo) that is laying down 336whp. if you figure in the weight to horse power ratio. that turns out to a pretty fast car. it just seems if you could somehow match weight between the stealth and eclipse the stealth would win. its always a matter of weight.....
We're talking stock numbers...not aftermarket....but yes..that would be a pretty fast car...
Well in that case. yeah that kinda pisses me off. my friend had a 3000gt that always got owned by this eclipse. and they were stock.

as of after owning both i can tell you this. if its a stick non turbo stealth is should be able to beat the non turbo eclipse/talon. i ahve a 93 stealth es and a 95 eagle talon tsi ( turbo) and it is very fast it only turbo back exhaust manual boost control and a intake and i keep up with or beat the twin turbo stealths. and mines even automatic.

Trim level to trim level and year to year the Stealth/3000GT are superior to the Eclipse/Talon/Laser. I love both cars and always wanted both a '93 Stealth R/T TT and a'97-'98 Talon TSi AWD. If you were to compare them on a dollar vs. performance scale then the Eclipse/Talon/Laser wins, but just on performance vs. performance the Stealth/3000GT wins. The Stealth/3000GT are very heavy and the AWD Eclipse/Talon/Laser are as well, but the horsepower gap is just too large and cannot be overcome. What I never understood is how the Stealth and 3000GT being the same exact car mechanically and almost physically could have very different performance with the 3000GT being noticeably quicker. As was previously mentioned the Eclipse/Talon/Laser had several bumps in horsepower, but it was very small and nowhere near enough to bridge the gap, and the Stealth/3000GT got a one time bump up 20 horsepower in only the TT versions, which is the same ultimate bump from the first turbo Eclipse/Talon/Laser. The '94 model year not only saw the only real changes to the Stealth/3000GT, styling and 20 horsepower and I believe that's when they got the 6 spd to replace the 5 spd., but the Eclipse/Talon/Laser had their similar changes which included the end of the Plymouth Laser.

Here is how they all stack up in performance:

1991 Dodge Stealth ES 7.1 15.6
1991 Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo 6.0 14.5
1992 Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo 5.7 14.2

1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL 8.5 16.4
1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 5.3 13.8
1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 5.8 14.3
1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 5.3 14.0
1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 5.7 14.2
1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 5.4 13.5
1997 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 4.8 13.6

vs.

1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T 7.4 15.9
1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T (Auto) 7.4 15.5 (MT June, 94)
1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 6.9 15.2
1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 7.0 15.3
1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Turbo 6.7 15.3 (MT Sept, 92)
1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 6.8 15.2
1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 9.0 16.6
1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 6.4 14.9
2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 7.0 15.4

1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD 6.8 15.1
1992 Eagle Talon TSi AWD 6.7 15.2
1994 Eagle Talon TSi AWD 6.6 14.6
1995 Eagle Talon TSi 6.4 15.1
1997 Eagle Talon ESi 8.3 16.4

1990 Plymouth Laser RS Turbo 6.9 15.4
1992 Plymouth Laser RS Turbo 7.1 15.0

That should take care of which out performs which.

The '06 Eclipse GT does have 263 horsepower, but it is very heavy and that holds them back. They also do not apply to this comparison, but it would be a very good race between the '06 GT and the first generation TT's, this could be a drivers race, but the TT's will win most of the time and will always win with equally skilled drivers.

The fastest Stealth was the 96TT. It was the lightest of the Stealth models. It is comparable to the GTO-MR in japan.

the talons and eclipse are super easy to mod and make fast. the last run my talon ever made was a 13.2 and that is at only running 5psi with a 16g turbo with no saporting mods. now that it has a tdo5 turbo on it and injectors ect. all the necessisary upgrade with a front mount intercooler and the tranny was beefed up the engine is even bored .30 over stroked and polished. i cant imagin what it would run now. VERY FAST. but i dont have it becuase after putting all the money and work in it i reliazed i still wanted my stealth haha so i sold it and now im building up my stealth.

I did have the Eclipse/Talon on my list when I was looking for a new ride, but chose the Stealth for the styling. A good condition Stealth/3000GT is more rare where I live and to me, has less of the boyracer with fart-can muffler exhaust look.

Ideally I would love a '93 Stealth R/T TT in black with black leather with the newer 320 hp 3.0L and 6-spd. I also still would love to have a '97-'98 Talon TSi AWD in black with black interior. Another DSM I would love to have is a last year Conquest TSi in black with black leather and swap out the troublesome 2.6L with a built 360 or a 400. I want any year Viper GTS, but I don't see that happening either.

man in my opinion the stealths rule. around here where i live everyone is in to the weedwhacker hondas painted 5 colors. its ridiculous really. they all go to pepboys and pay 20$ for a muffler that sounds like a bunch of pissed off bumble bees and they think their car is the coolest thing on the road. There is only 3 stealths where i live and they are all cappable of kicking the butt of any talon/eclipse around here. plus they are just more rare
