Make sure your tires are rated for the speed before you try it at the track. I only have H rated (110 mph) because I rarely take the opportunity to go that fast. I prefer the curves and it is tough to exceed 100 mph on winding mountain roads!

those ratings are a fluke anyways. the new mustang gts have S rated tires which is 112mph rating and i had mine pegged on 145. i mean think about it... Bridgestone Potenza tires stock on the Ferrari Enzo. and that car would go well over 200mph. think of the exotics??

OK here is something...I drive a 94/RT and i run a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/T's....they are 225/55 ZR16 [W] M+S...Later on the other side of the tire its stamped "Radial X"....And they run at 51 P.S.I max....I was told when i bought these tires they they were rated for high speeds....Does this sound right? What speed are they actually rated for? I do like these tires alot, they handle great around corners and top end...Not that im always driving that fast but i have cleared 130 a few times and like to have some confadence that my tires are not going to explode on me.

Remember, manufacturers rate their product where test have shown they will not fail under normal conditions. Yes you can go faster than the tire is rated, but if it fails the manufacturer is not liable becuase you exceded what the product was rated at. This is true of almost any product. That is why they always fail after the warrenty has expired.
