Default HELP PLEASE!!! OVERHEATING?

I have a 95 Stealth base model with 182,000 miles. Still runs! But lately when I drive it the temperature gage redlines in less than a mile and the car shuts off! Starts back up but won't idle. Is it really overheating in less than a mile? There's no smoke or other signs of overheating. Anybody else have a similar problem? Desperate!!!

It mostly depends on a few things, if your talking about from a cold start and what the outdoor temperature is at the time, if your talking about on the freeway or in city traffic and if the PCM is functioning properly as well as the sensors. It should take more than a mile to reach operating temperatures, but the outside temperatures at the time can easily change that just like the type of driving can.

Have you had a block test ran on it?

If your oil level is good and doesn't smell like it's burning I would check the temperature sensors/switches.

I had the same problem. First of all cheak the fuses and see it the fuse is blown for the blower fan. If it is replace it and see if the fan is working properly and the opposite side of the radiator. If not, your far motor may be bad or the wireing underneath the fuse box are all melted together (which is what happened to me). If the fan is already working then make sure your radiator fluid is at a good level.
