Well, it seems my transmission problem is internal and I will have to replace the whole transmission. I am going to start calling around at auto salvage lots, what transmissions are compatible with mine? I have the 1995 Stratus ES with the V6 2.5 Liter engine. Can I use any different years of stratus transmissions for mine? Can I use the plymouth breeze or chrysler cirrus transmission?

anything with the a604 transmission will work, plymouth breeze, cirrus, a couple of neons. I'm in the same boat now with the exact same car.

 

You can only use an A604 from '95 or '96 Cloud, including Sebring coupe and Avenger, cars. '95 - '96 A604 uses Transaxle Range switch with a separate neutral safety switch, whereas '97 and up uses Transaxle Range sensor on top of the tranny valve body. This sensor also functions as neutral safety and backup light switches.
