Default $3.5K for 03 stratus r/t cats?

Hey everyone...I'm new to this forum and was hoping you all could shed some light on my problem...Well a couple of months ago i took my car in because the check engine light was constantly on...My car was extremely sluggish and would top out at about 75-80 mph...I had my foot to the floor and it just wouldn't go any faster...so anyway, i took it in to the dealership and they told me my O2 sensors were bad...I had them replaced for about $800 dollars and it got rid of the problem for about 2 days and then it was back...I waited a couple of weeks to see if the problem would go away and it didn't...so i took it to a different place that deals with domestic autos only...i told them my experience @ the dealership and they explained to me that my cats were bad...luckily they were still under warranty so they took the car over to a different dodge dealership...
the service tech @ the dealership told them that noting's wrong with the cats, the O2's are bad...so apparently my mechanic told them if the O2's are bad how come the car runs fine when you take them out? this doesn't make sense to me but apparently it convinced the dealer that the cats were actually the problem and not the O2's...so anyway had the warranty not covered the cats i would be looking at a $3,500 repair bill...I was like, "what the crap!!??"...does that sound reasonable to you all?? To make matters worse the cats are on back order and it's been about a week and a half since my car's been at the dealer's shop and they finally shipped the parts yesterday...hopefully they'll have them installed in a day or two...
Anyway, have any of you ever had to have cats replaced? if so what did u pay and how did your car turn out afterwards? did the problem return??? i'm still upside down on my car and don't know if i should count my blessings and trade the car in right after i get it back from the dealer...i say this cause it seems that some people on this forum have had a recurring problem with their cats and i'd hate to be going through the same problem over and over...Your help is greatly appreciated
