Hi Guys

I have noticed since I bought my car, has 110k miles on it now, that when I push the accelerator there is a rattle sound, tin can kind of rattle from 2500-3000 rpm, over that aswell though not as noticable. I dont hear it when im driving only stationary in neutral or park when I rev the engine, im not one to rev it often dont worry lol not that kinda person.

I recently had my timing belt and water pump replaced, water pump was leeking pretty bad, thought that might fix the problem though it didnt, car feels a lot better now though.

Anyway I had done a search and pulled something up about the heat shield, not sure if that would be the problem or if it is what about that is causing the problem, doesnt seem to be any effect on the preformance though it is concerning, not something that should be I wouldnt think and I like to take care of problems before they become too much of one.

Hey Jack, I have had precisely the same issue in my 2002 SE 2.4 with 80.000 Kmiles on it. I was told that the problem was in the water pump, but I did not belive that. Another mechanic dared to tell me that the lower part of my engine was shot! BS...Well, I think I can live with this noise, which is only audible when the hood is opened andthe engine is revd pushing theaccelerator cable.

Thanks for the reply, ya it doesnt seem to be causing any mechanical problems, just wonder about strange sounds is all, always paranoid, its good I think
