my 98 stratESwith a year 00 v-6 2.5 liter enginedose not turn over or start i checked the fuses and starter i ordered a new ingition swich thinking thats the problem but we will see. if you have any suggestions please let me know!!??

 

There could be literally a TON of things wrong. How did you check the starter? There could be an open/short (ground) in some wires getting to the starter and thats about it for turning over. If your starter works normally, and your engine isnt turning over there might be kind of a high-pitched whine/whir/ring/(insert any other funny sounds here) when you go to turn it over. But if the engine turns, and you still cant get it to start, then there is a multitude of other problems that might surface. You could have bad plugs, cables, distributor, or ruined ignition coils. You might have a total loss of compression (usually if you re-installed the head or something and theres a cable pinched there). It could be that your fuel injectors are plugged up, or the opposite, your flooding it (in the case of flooding, check your temp sensor). There are so many things that could keep and engine from starting. Electrical is tedious work, but in general, simple. If you have a multimeter (preferably a good DMM) make sure all your electronics are working like they are supposed to. I really dont know if I helped you at all, or just threw you into a panic, or pissed you off, but there is a few possibilities. Let us know how it turns out.

 

Hey man i have that same problem except my battery keeps a charge and my 98 strat starts but it doesnt start up after a couple of weeks even while driving it did u try jump starting it?

 

please look at the date of the post (may 07, june 07, aug 07).

check for the fuseable links between the batt and alt, as well as loose/dirty connections on both.
