Default 98 Stratus

I'm frustrated!!! battery light came on 2 weeks ago since then I have gone thru 2 altnernators (used) and a new battery. I took the car to AutoZone, they stated that the "charging system" needed repairing. The amps on the battery (the new one) is 11.9 and they said it should be at least 12.6. I have heard that it possibly could be 2 other issues.1.) Computer modulator or 2. fusible link. What is most likely the issue. I've been working on my car myself (yes, I'm a woman ....with guidance) and I'm not sure what other avenues to explore. Please help I feel like a caged animal.

had a bud with the fuse link prob, it was intermitt. this is just a fuse in the wire between the alt and the batt. get one at the parts store, easy job and cheaper than the ecm. good luck.

Fusible links are fun things. Its not uncommon to have one go bad. Find it (its going to have a softer thicker insulation than all the rest of the wires down there), grab both ends, and give it a tug pulling it lengthwise. If it stretches go ahead and replace it. They're cheap and simple. If its not that, then consider getting a brand spankin' new alternator. Ive had a couple generators sold to me from CSK and stores similar where they reused burnt stators. Not that im saying yours are all defective, but thats really the other option.
