Default Suddenly the motor stops! (Electrical?)

hello friends,
my stratus (1996-2.5L), has a whim.
Starts and run so good, but when I am in the road >
> suddenly the motor stops! >> now.., without steering and brake!.
It generates fear to me.
--
Apparently something becomes disconnected (electrical), and stop everything…
I already had listened 'Dodge has electrical defects',
(
but I never inmagine a situation so smoothly dangerous)
--
May be - I should need to reset the engine computer…, (how I do that?)
some opinion well will be received, thanks
(
excuse my bad English)

check the codes first and see what comes up. your last post stated you have none. try doing this.

1. put trans in park, set RPMs at 2500, slowly go back to idle.
2. turn A/C on then off (1-4 seconds).
3. auto tranny, shift through ALL gears starting and ending in "P" (park).
4. turn off motor.
[this will let the computer check ALL the eng, a/c, and trans faults.]
(next must be done within 5 seconds)
5. turn key to "on" (just before start), off (one click back), on, off, on.

if you have any codes they should show up. let us know if you find anything.

If it just shuts off on you this could be a crank or cam position sensor that is going or is bad already, like Tomthedog said get the codes. If your vehicle is OBD2 which im sure it is100% the computer reset is done by electronic diagnostic tool from the dealer. Its not like OBD systemwhere you just had you un-hook the battery cable. Good luck

Hi, we are going through a situation where we will be driving and then all of a sudden the cars electrical dies and everything but one or 2 dummy lights die. My husband messed with the fuse panel under the hood and some of the connections are loose. We have to jiggle the fuses to get the car to start back up. He is going to work on it tomorrow. He just went to the store, its dark, and he said he could see a regular yellow fuse sparking. BTW, we have a 96. He also did the codes today and it came up as battery disconnect.

My car had been idling funny, and recently (only three times) it died while I was driving. It happened all 3 times at low speeds (under 45). I replaced the idle air control, and the pcv, but still no luck. In my case when it died, only the oil light was left illuminated, no power steering or brake, and no MILs. What it turned out to be was the two 90degree elbows on the vaccuum line from the pcv to the throttle body. As soon as I fixed those, it is all good! Hope this helps!
