Corrosion Warrenty
Hey, Im a new member here. I have a 2004 Dodge Stratus RT (Black) and I have been having problems with paint corroding due to weather/oxidation. This is mostly happening on the roof and trunk area. I did read in my warrenty book there is a corrosion warrenty that should cover this type of thing if it is not caused by scratches or dings. The corrosion warrenty states: covers cost of all parts and labor needed to repair or replace any sheet metal panels that get holes from rust or other corrosion. For an outer-body sheet metal pane-one that is finished painted and that someone can see when walking around the vehicle-the limits are 5 years or 100,000 mileson the odometer, whichever comes first. Going by this I believe I should be able to have the roof repainted at no cost. What do you think? Has anyone ever filed a claim for this warrenty before? Being this new of a vehicle, I am disappointed how the paint has held up.
Sounds like you should be covered. Take it into the dealership and see what they say. The only thing that can come into play is if you are not the original owner. Some of those warranties do not carry over.
Well I took the car by Dodge, they took a look at it and took some pictures and sent it to Chrysler. They said they can NOT cover it becuase it was only part of the 3 year basic warrenty, not corrosion. Apparently in order for the corrosion warrenty to apply, rust needs to be forming from the inside of the sheet metal and spread through the outside of the sheet metal through the paint; however it says nothing about that in the warrenty book. I even tried to contact Chrysler, and after about 20 minutes of speaking to a service rep, they still won't do anything. I guess thats all I can do now and just pay out of my own pocket to repair the roof.
