Default Stratus cuts off

I have a 1996 Dodge Stratus with about 110,000 miles on it. It has been cutting off while driving, almost cutting off, and not turning over to come on sometimes. It rarely cuts off on the highway and if it does it is within the first 2 miles of driving on the highway. After that it is fine for over 200 miles, that's about the farthest it's been driven since having this problem. When it almost cuts off I will be driving and the gas pedal no longer causes the car to go forward but it will sometimes pick it back up then and continue driving. Sometimes after it has cut off it will take several tries/minutes before it will come back on. Other times it will start right back up after turning off.
I took it to a local auto-repair place and they ran diagnostics and couldn't find any codes. They did a tune up on it because it needed it but they didn't know why the car was cutting off. After taking it there it was still cutting off so I took it to the Dodge dealership to be worked on. They had the car for two days and it cut off once for them. Again no codes came up and they don't know what's wrong with it. They told me to take it home for the weekend and see if I could get it to start cutting off again.
I got the car back on Thursday and it did fine. Friday I drove2 miles towork at 9am. At lunch at noon I cut it on and it cut off immediately twice and then took a few minutes before it would come back on. On the way to the bank the gas wouldn't work at one point but it eventually started going before the engine comepletely cut off.
I'm not sure what to do with it next as I don't see how the dealership will know what the problem is next time I take it in. I was told to try and automotive electrician, does that sound like a possibility?
