Default 05 R/T 3.0 Fuel Filter

How often should the fuel filter in the R/T 3.0 be changed?
And is it really a hard thing to do?

I was told by a shop that in this car, the fuel filter is usually only changed when the fuel pump goes bad. He said its located inside the gas tank.

I was going to have it changed because the car tends to hesitate occasionally when accelerating, mostly at slow speeds. I haven't really noticed it at highway speeds. Also thought about changing spark plugs, but apparently that is a huge undertaking as well.

Maybe I would be better off just getting a fuel additive??

Thanks in advance.

I am not sure how often it needs to be changed, but yes it is in the gas tank and it normally that job requires dropping the gas tank and replacing the pump as well.

As for your problem, is your A/C on or is the dial set at defrost? If so, it is a normal thing to have a hesitation with the extra load of the A/C on. If it isn't that, I would start with the spark plugs (not really that hard) and spark plug wires. Your throttle body may also need to be cleaned.

Hey BloodRed, thanks for the reply.

Yes the A/C is on when this happens. I suppose it may be fairly normal... but I don't really remember this happening last summer with the A/C on. I've only had the car a little overa year, so maybe it did and I just didn't pay attention to it, who knows.

Spark plugs & wires scare me, because after reading about it on here, apparently the intake manifold has to be lifted up. A shop roughly estimated about $500-600 to do plugs & wires for me...

I will look into cleaning the throttle body... looks like it might be something I can do on my own.
