Default A/C Problems

I have a 2002 Stratus, 2.4L, DOHC. Recently, my A/C starting blowing hot air. When I turn the car on in the morning the air runs fine while idleing. Once I press the accelerator and hit about 2000 RPM, I notice that the clutch on the compressor stops temporarily. Sometimes it stops for a split seconds and at time it stops for 15 to 20 seconds and restarts. I have had two certified A/C techs look at it and they say my refrigerant is fine and that there are no leaks. One guy told me the compressor was bad and the other said the compressor was fine and that I had a stopper problem. He didn't elaborate on it and just said he could not get to it any time soon. I have checked the relays, the control panel and the connectors and all of them seem fine. I have read alot threads on here, but no one seem to come back and tell what their problem or solutions were. Can someone please help. I have to do a lot of travel everyday, my job requires it, but the heat is wearing me down. I thank you in advance for any input and suggestions you may have.

Default RE: A/C Problems

WOW. it kind of sounds to me like you might have a bad press sensor (high or low), a temp sensor, speed sensor, or the compress is on the way out. got your e-mail, so you should know the sensors i am talking about and what they do. the GOOD thing is your sys is holding pressure, chasing a leak can be a pain. the best person to talk to would be "dodge tech" as he has the FAC shop books. you could try the following.

1. try the "rpm" test with the a/c on defrost, this would point to the dash controlls.

2. discon the high/low press sensors and jumping the wire end of the connection with a paper clip, repeat the rpm test; if one makes the sys work ok thats the issue.

3. replace the fuses and relays, sometimes they work "just enough" to turn the sys on, but can't take a load.

4. call the local dealership and ask to talk to the main A/C guy and explain the issue. they might know whats up.

if yo find out the issue PLEASE let me know whats up and post the info. good luck.

Well, after all of that! The lights on the control panel went out and my check engine light came on. So I decided to take it to the dealer. I was told I had a bad control panel head. One was ordered for me($103 plus labor) and now the A/C works great. Thanks for the input Tom. I hope this help solve problems that others may have.
