on my black 01 stratus the clear coat is coming off bigtime. there is a large chunk on the roof that is down to the paint past all the clearcoat. I understand I can get it repainted, but because I am on a ver limited budget, what is the best stratch/clearcoat restore product you know of?
Is it a 2 door and black? If so, the primer and paint were incompatible and it ate itself off. There is no restore option. You must have it sanded down to metal, reprimered and painted. That is the only cure.
This is a big problem on all the Eclepses, Sebrings, stratus's. I think it's only on all the black cars. As Rook said your going to have to get it sanded and re-painted. Good Luck.
Unfortunatly, Chrysler Corp. uses the poorest quality paint in the industry. My best bud runs a auto body shop and says that he paints more Chrysler vehilcles than and other manufacturer. I still love my Mopar though!
[:@]I had my first bad experience with dodge black paint on my new 1978 dodge ramcharger. They are still using the same black paint apparently. I have always scrutinized other black cars since and never found any other lline of cars with the problem.
