02 Stratus R/T clear tail lights?
Well, now that you mention it, I did give it the "scratch test" I couldn't dig into it at all with my fingernail. As I said earlier, this stuff dried pretty dog gone hard in only about 10 minutes so it's pretty hard stuff. As far as the legality of it goes, you have to be able to clearly see the tail lights and the brake lights when they are illuminated... There is a certain distance that they must be visible from but I'm not certain what that distance is. That being said however, I posted pictures of the brake lights on and the brake lights off to show that they can clearly bee seen. I also mentioned to Nate a tread to two back that when he puts the paint on, not to do more than 2 thin coats... For the very reason I just stated, you dant want them to be too dark or you may get quaestioned by local law enforcment. Hope that helps.
Sorry Ingbrding but your lights looked really good I had to borrow your idea, I'll give it back some other time lol.. The only differnce on them is I had to put a couple coats of clear and wet sand them..
Here's a pic of the difference between after and before wetsanding..

Some after pics of everything wet sanded except the third brake light hasn't been cleared yet.

I think they look pretty stinkin' cool Nate. That's really odd though it initally (for lack of a better word) "gobbed" up on the lenses though. Mine sprayed on smooth as a baby's bottom. I almost wanted to clear them too, but they were already so smooth, you know? I like the look of the thin reflecter bars still being red on your car since you have the red paint. I didn't like the red on my silver though so I applied some left over faux CF vinyl on them... Here's what it ended up looking like.

I'm sure painting them in 40 degredd weather didn't help, that may be tha case i'm not sure I don't think you know what cold weather really is do you? . I might leave me refletors red, I think it would look a llittle wierd painted black. What do you think? The clear godded up or the tint paint? By looking at the third brake light in the third pic you can tell it's not as smooth as yours.
On 2g I posted this aswell. They told me it would be a good thing to clear them to keep the paint itself free of contaniments and oxidization. Plus I've never tried wet sanding before so I thought it would be interesting to try.
