Default '01 R/T Coupe Transmission swap

Sorry to be one of those 2-post noobs asking a [most likely] annoying question, but I did try searching first. That said, there didn't seem to be much out there so I'm not expecting much... anyway..

I plan to start researching the 5 speed swap soon, and was looking for any experiences people might have with it. Has anyone done it before? Expected price, reliability, other issues? I love the R/T, but I don't know how much longer I can drive an auto for, so it's either swap or new car.

Oh boy your sure in for some fun lol, your better off getting the same car but a 5spd, I've also been wanting to do this but its expensive. You can either search around on www.club3g.com, or www.2gstratus.org for more info.

Here are some links for How-to's:

I love my 5 speed! I can't imagine what a headache the swap to one would be though.

Bummer, I was hoping someone would say that there is a ton of clearance and things bolt up/plug in nicely [8D]

I'll have to keep lookin into it. I used to have a '97 240sx SE, and those swaps were relatively painless (as painless as a trans. swap could be, I guess). Thanks for the info, Nate, and thanks for rubbing it in Ingbrding haha

While its not the real thing, my 01 coupe RT has the auto-stick which is still fun. But yes auto can get boring. I would probably have to agree with the first post in that you can just go buy another car with the tranny you want. I just got mine for 5500. Its going to run you at least what 3 grand to do this to a 6000 car.
