Electrical Genius?? 2001 Stratus SE
Did my research, manual reading etc etc,. Determined the BCM was at fault for various problems, ABS light lit, brake lite lit, door lock problems etc etc. I went the cheap route and purchased a $50 BCM online, not a perfect match, but did the trick. NOW, my question for anybody willing to answer is, the mileage is retained in the BCM, I went from 86K to 125K. I swapped out the BCM's from the High mileage to the original lower mileage, vehicle will not start, I know the BCM communicates with The PCM, could if have some type of "odometer fraud" logic that would prevent the lower mileage BCM from working anymore?? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

your cheap route will now come back to get u in the butt. U get to put a new BCM and PCM in if what happened I think did. I bet u installed a BCM that had an alarm system built into it and u installed it onto a car that did not have it and burnt it into the PCM that is now looking for an alarm system in the BCM to say ok to start. U fixed one but made 2 more problems U get to relace the PCM and program it and new BCM as well. Cross swaping of computers is something that u just dont do any more just for that kinda issue.
REMOVAL The Junction Block and Body Control Module (BCM) are attached to each other. After removal they can be separated. [ol][*]Disconnect and isolate the remote battery negative cable from the terminal on the shock tower.[*]Open the front driver's door and remove end cap.[*]Remove power mirror switch bezel.[*]Remove the left lower instrument panel trim.[*]Remove silencer.[*]Remove wire harness connectors from Junction Block.[*]Remove Junction Block three mounting screws.[*]Remove Junction Block/BCM by pulling straight down from the mounting bayonet.[*]Disconnect BCM wire connectors and remove the assembly.[*]Remove Junction Block/BCM from vehicle.[*]With the Junction Block/BCM removed from the vehicle, separate the BCM from the Junction Block.[*]Disconnect BCM from the Junction Block.[*]Unsnap the remote keyless entry module from the BCM. NOTE: The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module is attached to the BCM. This must be transferred (if equipped) to the new BCM if being replaced. NOTE: If BCM is replaced, the VTSS must be enabled in the new BCM via the DRB lllĀ® in order to start the vehicle.[/ol]
