Stereo Cuts Out When I Brake
The Problem:
When I brake even moderately hard, right at the end when the car rocks back, the stereo will stop playing. That may be vague; but what I see is that the stereo is still displaying time and does not appear to have a problem, but all the sound to all speakers are gone. In about 1 second everything comes back and in about 5 seconds the two subs turn back on.
A week ago I was getting static in the speakers and found a dime in the pre-amp underneath the passenger seat. When I removed the dime, that solved the static; however, when I put everything back together this problem started. Just finished re-doing everything I did to fix the static and all plugs are tightly connected both to the pre-amp and the stereo.
The Car:
Don't think that this matters too much but just in case.
2001 Stratus R/T coupe, 3.0 liter (Mitsubishi Engine)
Infinity Sound System with 7 speakers and 2 10" inch subs.
Any help in diagnosing this would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the wires that feed the audio signal to the speakers are loose. Is there a harness nearby where you were messing. What type of connectors are on there, male female clamp ones? I always had better luck just soldering mine instead of using the clamp things.
Lol!
My 1995 Dodge Status 2.5L V6 has a similar problem. I have the premium sound system (WONDERFUL INFINITI SYSTEM) an aftermarket deck installed, but no amp bypass. I'm trying to find one! But I might have to do it manually by cutting and crimping the wires one by one. But whenenver I use my turn signals or turn on my Heater/AC/Blower or put it in reverse or brakes and a combination of any of the others. It cuts out, but its only FULL TREBLE, no thump. As soon as I turn it (turn signals. heater...) off it goes back to full audio spectrum, Treb/Mid/Bass. So I think the problem you might have (I don't know if you have aftermarket deck installed) is a confliction between your deck and your infiniti amp. I fried my Infiniti amp by not doing the amp bypass and I looked for a replacement, the cheapest I could find one for $185. I know that by bypassing my Infiniti amp it will stop, so maybe you have the same situation as me? Good luck, Nathan L, Mesa, AZ.

Oh also it cuts out to the front tweets and rear speakers ONLY, they are the stock 2 ohm infiniti speakers. the door speakers are aftermarket sony xplods and they are 4 ohm. Your problem might be that your amp is drawing too much power from your alternator. I could be wrong, but it seems that in my situation it does the same thing. Excessive electrical draw on my alternator, kills my stock infiniti stereo. Good luck!
